INHERITANCE TAX CHANGES
01 November 2007
You may need to change your Will because of the recent changes to Inheritance Tax
The Chancellor has recently changed the rules for husband and wife / civil partners. Any part of the nil rate band allowance that is not used on the death of the first person to die can be carried forward and added to the nil rate band allowance of the survivor on his/her death. If your Will contains a nil rateband discretionary trust you should consider removing this since it will prevent the new rules from applying. Please contact us for details of how to do this with a simple and inexpensive Codicil.
